대한민국의 음악기획사, 마마세이레코드. 이곳은 시작부터 다르다.
음악을 팔려고 시작한 것이 아니라, 음악을 하려고 시작한 곳이기 때문이다.
먹고 살기 위한 음악이 아니라 음악으로 우린 먹고 산다.
철학을 담았고 감성을 담았고 테크닉을 담았다.
이 모든것이 우리들의 인생이리라.
부디 좋은 음악을 들으며 여러분은 살아가기를 바란다.
어린 친구들은 그렇게 자라주기 바란다.
음악이 없는 인생은 먹고 그저 사는것 뿐이니까...
여기에 마마세이(Mamasay) 라는 음악아지트가 있다.
남들과 비교하지 않으며 우리를 높이려 굳이 노력하지 않으며,
음악이 즐거움임을 증명해내는 아지트. 그저 우리를 좋아해주기만 하면 된다.
우리를 따라오시라. 그렇다면 우리처럼 ‘잘 사는 것’ 을 누릴 수 있겠다.

Mamasay Records, a South Korean music label,
is different from the beginning.
We didn’t start to sell music, but to do music.
We live as musicians, which is not just an occupation.
It contains philosophy, emotions, and techniques.
These are all in our lives.
We hope you to live listening to good music.

"앨범 단위의 완성과 감상"
자유의 시대는 모두에게 이롭습니다. 하지만 그 자유를 사용하면서 우리는 망가지기 쉽습니다. 21세기로 넘어오며 음반산업이 그러했습니다.
마마세이에서는 ‘음악은 이렇게 감상해야 해’ 라는 옳은 기준을 가지고 있고 그것을 주변에 퍼뜨리고 싶어합니다. 우리 모든 뮤지션들은 10곡짜리 정규앨범 단위로 자신의 인생이야기를 펼쳐나갈것입니다.
그 앨범의 시작과 끝이 자신의 인생을 담은 것으로써 성실하게 제작할 것입니다. 그렇게 완성한 것을 모든 대중들에게 그대로 감상해 달라고 부탁할 것입니다. 1번부터 10번까지 순서대로, 비디오를 보지말고 음악만 들으며 상상하며 감상하기를 부탁드립니다.

The age of freedom is beneficial to everyone. But using that freedom, we're prone to collapse. And that's how the music industry was like as we moved into the 21st century. Mamasay has the right standard of "This is how you should listen to music" and wants to spread it around. All of our musicians are going to tell their life stories in units of a 10-track original album. We produce our albums with the best we can do as the album will be about one's life. We will ask the people to appreciate it as it is. From No. 1 to No. 10, please enjoy it while imagining only the music without watching the video.

"모두가 뮤지션, 모두가 스탭"
기획사, 마마세이 레코드의 조직은 사실 자연스럽게 탄생했습니다. 음악을 하고 싶어 녹음을 하고 공연을 하고, 그것을 위해 홍보를 하고, 사람이 필요해서 스탭을 해주고. 뮤지션이 늘어나고 더더욱 음악을 많이 하면서도 그것을 서포트하는 스탭들도 서로에게 늘어나게 되었습니다. 모두가 뮤지션이 되었다가 스탭이 되는 구조, 알고보니 이 구조는 매우 모범적인 모델이었습니다.
혁신성, 창의성, 동기부여, 커뮤니케이션 등 모든 기업이 가지고 싶어하는 멋진 것을 마마세이는 자연스럽게 가지게 되었다고 말할 수 있습니다. 일하기 위해서 모인것이 아니지만 일을 하게 되며 많은 먹고 사는 것을 창출하고 배분하는 구조, 이것이 바로 미래의 기업 모델로써 마마세이가 나아가는 길입니다.
"Everyone is a musician, and a staff member"
The organization of Mamasay Records was born naturally. We started to record and perform because we wanted to do music. We promoted for it, and staffed while we needed people to help. The number of staffs increased as the musicians increased. We have naturally built the structure which everyone becomes a musician and a staff at the same time. And this turned out to be a very exemplary model. It can be said that Mamasay naturally came to have something wonderful that all companies want to have: innovation, creativity, motivation, and communication. It's a structure that creates and distributes for many livelihoods, which is the way Mamasay is going as a future corporate model.
"싱어송라이터, 밴드음악"
역시나 음악은 밴드음악으로 들어야 제 맛입니다. 직접 연주하고 직접 만들어내는 싱어송라이터 음악으로 표현되어야 가장 독창적이고 가장 멋지다고 보입니다. 우리가 배운것은 이런것입니다. 잘하는 것도 이것입니다. 그렇기 때문에 가장 잘하는 것으로만 세상과 상호작용하며 살아나가는 시도를 합니다.
알고보니 세상사람들도 이런 음악을 무척 좋아하고 있었습니다. 아무렇게나 만들어내는 인공적 음악이 아닌, 나혼자 낑낑대며 서툴게 시도해내는 마마세이같은 음악 행위.굳이 악기를 연주하면서 노래를 불러야하는 우리만의 사명감.
드럼+베이스+기타+키보드를 함께 연주해야만 느낄 수 있는 이런 ‘불편한 황홀감’. 알고보니 대중들은 이런것들을 좋아하는다는 것, 지지해준다는 것을 알게되었습니다. 그렇기 때문에 더더욱 우리가 잘하는것으로만 세상과 커뮤니케션을 하려고 합니다.
"Singer songwriter, band music"
As expected, music is the best when you listen to band music. It seems to be the most original and coolest when a singer-songwriter plays and produces himself. This is what we have learned. This is what we are good at. That's why we try to live by interacting with the world only with what we can do best. It turned out that people around the world loved this kind of music, too. Rather than artificial music that is created randomly, doing one’s best to create a pure originality, is what Mamasay has been doing. This "inconvenient ecstasy" that can only be felt when the drums + bass + guitar + keyboard are played together. We believe the people will support us as they like these things. That's why we're trying to communicate with the world only by what we're good at.
"우리만의 방식이 세계적이다"
지식을 가졌다고 1등이 되는 시대가 아니라 그것을 잘 사용해서 1등이 되는 시대입니다. 마마세이는 여러가지 방식으로 음악을 해보며 수많은 공부와 고민을 거쳐보았습니다. 대한민국 사람으로써, 21세기를 살아가기 위하여, 나는 음악으로 될까를 생각해 보았습니다. 이제 대한민국은 세계로 나아가야 합니다. 하지만 혼란이 아니라 자기만의 확신을 탑재하고 시작해야 합니다. 그 확신은 바로 자기만의 것, 나만의 방식을 말하는 것입니다.
우리 마마세이 뮤지션들은 확실한 자신만의 스타일을 고수하며 걸어갈 것입니다. 제작하는 과정과 홍보하고 퍼포먼스를 펼치는 과정 또한 우리만의 것으로 할 것입니다. 계속 배우되, 눈치보는 것은 그만두고 사색하여 결정하고 선포하며 나아가려고 합니다. 알고보니 소박한 것이 가장 소중했고, 나만의 것이 가장 세계적인 것임을 결국 알게 되었기 때문입니다.
“It’s global to go our own way”
It is not an era in which one can become number one by using knowledge, but an era in which one can become the best by using it well. Mamasay has studied and agonized a lot while performing music in various ways. As Koreans, in order to live in the 21st century, we have been thinking “what is like to be a musician?.” Now, the Republic of Korea must move on to the world. But we have to start with your own conviction, not confusion. That conviction is about going one's own way. We, as Mamasay musicians, will walk with a certain style. The process of production, promotion, and performance will also be our own. We are going to stop minding others, but keep on learning and consider, make decisions, declare, and move on. As we found out that simple ones are the most precious ones, and our own ones are the best ones in the world.
